Food as Medicine: Self Healing Through Nutrition

In today's fast paced modern world, it is easy to forget that our bodies are built from the foods we eat.  Furthermore, we are taught to believe that all foods are equally recognized and beneficial to the body.  However, this is simply not true!  What, how, and when we eat all have an impact on our body's ability to heal itself and provide us with energy to make an impact in the world.

In my own journey with food, I have learned many hard lessons about how diet impacts one's physical, emotional, and mental well being.  Thankfully, you don't need to turn to deprivation, strict calorie counting, or expensive medical interventions to feel better.  With a little patience, self love, and dietary guidance, you can learn to give your body what it needs to thrive.

Personalizing Nutrition to Fit your Biology

Every person has has a unique biochemistry which means one diet will not serve everyone equally.  By assessing your current dietary habits, preferences, and energy requirements, we can work together to minimize uncomfortable symptoms in the body, such as poor digestion, fatigue, poor concentration, fluctuating mood, and inflammation.  I practice Health at Every Size (HAES) which focuses on eating for health rather than eating for weight loss.  It is my belief that everyone's body will settle into a weight that is genetically appropriate for them when given proper nutrition and enjoyable physical activity.  Rather than starving you into a weight that is unsustainable, lets work together to make meals pleasurable, nutritious, and satisfying so you can live wholeheartedly in the world!

What I Offer:

I am a Certified Nutritionist and received my MS in Nutrition from Bastyr University.  As a CN, I work with individuals who are in a generally healthy state who wish to work on identifying food sensitivities, eating for greater vitality, or achieving a more balanced and healthful diet.  If you are under the care of a physician who has recommended a specific diet plan to you, but you are unsure how to implement or maintain your diet plan, I am happy to coordinate with your medical provider and support you in implementing their recommendations.

I am not able to provide medical nutrition management for those not under medical supervision or who are experiencing a chronic or acute medical condition, such as diabetes, SIBO, liver disease, or kidney disease.  If you are experiencing such a condition, please see my referral list for a Registered Dietician who could be of greater assistance.
